Chilli Crab Fries from Satay By The Bay
Satay By The Bay is best known for serving the chicken kebabs known as satay in Singapore and Malaysia, utilizing recipes from co-founder Elly Suraya Greenfield’s mother and grandmother. But a real star of the menu besides her popular chicken satay in peanut sauce is the Chilli Crab Fries, which is loaded with a generous amount of crab, a sweet and spicy sauce, fried onion and cilantro.
Sisig Fries from Señor Sisig
With its fleet of trucks and restaurant locations in Oakland and in San Francisco’s Ferry Building, Señor Sisig is a true Off the Grid success story, having started with us at the very beginning! Sisig is a classic Filipino dish that’s traditionally made with calamansi-marinated pork, but at Señor Sisig, you can also have tocino (sweet cured pork), chicken or vegan tofu sisig. And when it comes to putting one of those toppings on French fries that are already dressed in nacho cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo and pickled jalapeños, there are no wrong answers.
Sexy Fries from Curry Up Now
Curry Up Now’s Sexy Fries are an Indian take on Canadian poutine that utilize sweet potato fries, mozzarella cheese and a protein choice of “Hella Vegan” Lamb Keema, Chicken Tikka Masala or Paneer Tikka Masala. The dish is available from their trucks and Bay Area restaurants in San Ramon, San Jose, Palo Alto and Oakland.
Fries Deluxe from Rock Club Burgers
Burgers named after bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Korn deserve a headbanging accompaniment, and at the three-year-old food truck known as Rock Club Burgers, that can take the form of the Fries Deluxe. These beauties are topped with bacon and cheese for maximum rock ‘n roll.
The Pork Fries from Bacon Bacon
Pork shoulder, pork belly and bacon-mounted fries are a triple threat from Jim Angelus’ mighty Bacon Bacon, which is both a veteran food truck and a San Francisco restaurant dedicated to porcine pleasures, such as the famous bacon bouquet. However, if that’s sounding like piggy overkill for you, you can just get bacon on top instead!
Lomo Fries from Lomo Libre
The beloved Peruvian stir-fried beef dish called lomo saltado is the specialty of Lomo Libre, which has a food truck as well as a restaurant in San Francisco. Lomo saltado is typically served with fries, but you can take it up a level here and get Lomo Fries with carne asada, pollo asado or tofu, guacamole, cilantro crema, pico de gallo, Jack cheese, rocoto aioli, pickled jalapeños and a lot more potatoes!
Triple G Fries from Golden Gate Gyro
Those looking for a Halal meat option should consider the Triple G Fries from Golden Gate Gyro, which is based in Concord and has operated a food truck since 2016. This version is crowned with your choice of Halal chicken, lamb or vegan falafel, which is made with chickpeas. Add white sauce, cilantro sauce, red chili sauce or — why not? — all three, and you’ve got either a delightful entree or hearty side.
Fully Loaded Mob Fries from Vegan Mob
Local rapper turned food Creator and new cookbook author Toriano Gordon uses only plant-based ingredients for his BBQ and soul food menu at Vegan Mob, which is a truck as well as a brick and mortar franchise with locations in Santa Rosa and San Bruno. Gordon’s Fully Loaded Mob Fries are cooked crispy and served with a meatless brisket (or, for an additional charge, Impossible Meat), a secret Mob Sauce, guacamole and vegan takes on nacho cheese and sour cream.
