Our passion at Off the Grid has always revolved around supporting local food communities. When COVID hit earlier this year, our approach to lifting up these communities and creating special events around diverse food experiences had to adapt, significantly. Compounded by a devastating wildfire season — and its impact felt throughout the Bay Area — the need to support families and first responders became clearer and more urgent than ever. Our team at Off the Grid quickly adapted our services and repurposed our assets to support at-risk communities, partnering with several local and national non-profit organizations to magnify our efforts and ensure the largest possible impact.

Great Plates Delivered

Meals delivered: 451,863

Through partnerships with local city governments, our team at Off the Grid has mobilized local food Creators and restaurants to deliver three free meals a day to older adults who are at heightened risk due to COVID-19, and are unable to obtain or prepare meals on their own while sheltering in place. Our partners include the City of Oakland, the City of San Francisco, and the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management.

Fire Relief

Meals delivered: 42,260

Off the Grid launched a GoFundMe campaign in August, raising over $70,000 to support relief efforts in the form of meal delivery to first responders, evacuees, and fire-affected communities throughout the counties of San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Fresno and Butte. As an extension of this effort, the Farmers for Fire Relief Program was created as a way to bridge the gap between the agriculture community and families impacted by the CZU Complex fires. Our partners include Fresh ApproachGrowing the Table, and The Salvation Army.
