In the Bay Area, we’re lucky to have so many restaurants that welcome pets on their patios and outdoors spaces. After all, does going out to dinner really feel special if we can’t bring every member of the family along? Don’t forget — all Off the Grid events are pet friendly too! The pet friendly restaurants on this list go above and beyond simply allowing pets, they also feature special dishes, discounts, and experiences, so our four-legged friends can get the full dining experience. To clarify, this list is centered around dogs and in most instances cats would probably be okay, but we don’t recommend pulling up with your pet horse or tarantula.

Lazy Dog is a restaurant and bar chain with many locations across the country, a majority of them in California, that is popular for their pet policy. As the name implies, it is indeed a place your dog can join you to dinner and sit lazily beneath your seat. They offer a pup menu featuring grilled hamburger patty, chicken bread, brown rice, veggies, and a complimentary bowl of water. They also offer a membership known as Pepper’s Pack which includes pup meal discounts, exclusive merch, toys, and treats. Make sure to read their patio rules before visiting.

Moss Beach Distillery (Moss Beach) is a romantic seafood restaurant with ocean views and a dog friendly patio. They even have a dog menu that includes mini burger patties, bacon slices, grilled chicken breast, skirt steak, scrambled eggs, or a bowl of kibble. Human visitors can enjoy crab cake benedict, cocktails, and warm apple tarts.

Zazie (San Francisco) is a French bistro serving up 8 types of eggs benedict, 12 griddle dishes, and 8 types of salads. Monday nights are Dog Nights where not only does your dog get treats, you get $10 off a bottle of wine for yourself! Bring your furry friend and spend the evening in their heated garden patio.

Dogue (San Francisco) only serves dog food, but it couldn’t be any more different from dried kibble. The food here is handcrafted, elegant, and looks like it belongs on the table of a Michelin starred restaurant. There’s mini tables and booths for dogs to sit while they enjoy their meal. If you’re hungry after watching your dog chow down, Tartine Bakery, La Taqueria, and Al Carajo are just a short walk away.

7 Mile House Sports Bar & Grill (Brisbane) is one of the few places you can enjoy a beer alongside your dog. Their “dog beer” is actually just flavored broth, but your pup won’t know the difference. They also have a dog menu and a yappy hour where the place fills up with dogs coming in for treats after a long day of work. If you take your dog on their birthday, ask for a special ice cream treat!

Angler (San Francisco) goes all in by making some of the highest quality dog food available anywhere. The dog menu features bone or fish-shaped biscuits made with in-house oat flour; chicken stock prepared without alliums, and salmon or chicken toppers. According to Eater SF, Chef Limoges has even sampled the food himself to ensure it’s up to his standards. Dog owners can feast on aged black cod, scallops, and caviar.

Tacolicious (San Francisco) hosts a barkley happy hour each week that started due to an influx of customers ordering unseasoned carne asada for their pups. Bring your dog every Wednesday from 3 to 6 PM for sweet potato-chicken bowls and “churro” chews. The dog menu is currently only available at the Marina location. Enjoy a meal of vampiros, tuna tostadas, and spiked cold brew coffee alongside your pup.
