Vegetarian food options should never be an afterthought when planning food for an event. We invite you to take a global journey with food trucks embracing plant-based diets that provide quality vegan and vegetarian dishes. Whether you’re looking for burritos, noodles, sandwiches, pizza, or lumpia — we’ve got plenty of great options at Off the Grid.
Asian Cuisine
- Damansara Co.: They offer over a dozen plant-based options ranging from curry puffs to noodle soups and even dessert. We love their jackfruit rendang that’s seasoned with 24 spices and aromatics including candlenut and roasted coconut meat.
- Barya Kitchen: We love that they offer both sweet and savory plant-based lumpia. Their vegetarian lumpia is filled with plant based chorizo, corn, black beans, and onion topped with cotija, cilantro, and salsa verde. Their vegan option, turon, is a fried banana lumpia with a vegan jackfruit coconut condensed milk dipping sauce.
- Basil the Bold: This creator blends Thai cuisine with popular California dishes. They have many vegan dishes, but our favorite is the fried tofu larb made with hand-marinated garlic soy tofu double-fried in a thin layer of crispy corn starch, tossed with a citrus and toasted rice “Larb” spice mix, aromatic fresh herbs, and just the right amount of chili.
- Bun Me Up serves up bao with fillings influenced by Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Filipino cuisine. Our favorite vegetarian option here is their crispy fried tofu topped with barbecue-glazed onions.
- Noodle Girl serves modern Vietnamese food made with seasonal California ingredients. Their vegan fresh rolls are filled with carrots, jicama, and fresh herbs. Make sure to get it with their savory, nutty almond sauce.
- Poke a Go Go is a pop-up focused on fresh, healthy food. We recommend their cheese and crudité grazing table for large events since it includes fruit, vegetables, and cheeses for people to snack on throughout an event. Their spicy Thai noodle salad and tofu poke bowl are our favorites.
- Kawashima’s Kitchen: Lots of ramen spots neglect their vegetarian broths in favor of tonkotsu, but at Kawashima’s Kitchen, their veggie ramen is a star. The vegetable broth is paired with egg noodles, tofu, wakame, crispy carrots, moyashi, soft boiled egg, vegetarian teriyaki, green onion, and nori. (Ask for rice noodles and remove the egg to keep the dish vegan).
Multicultural Cuisine
- Superfine Kitchen: Check out their diverse menu inspired by fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. You’ll find mushroom “carnitas” enchiladas loaded with a vegan cheese sauce; maitake banh mi stacked with pickles and aioli; and chana masala served over cardamom rice.
- Clean Bites is a health-focused catering company with options like falafel, acai, pressed juices, and smoothies. One of our favorites is their falafel wrap filled with fluffy scrambled eggs, fresh spinach, and a tangy house-made sauce, all wrapped in a soft vegan flatbread.
Other Exciting Options
- Kuker: A Bulgarian spot specializing in traditional dishes like grain bowls and banitsa. Bulgarian food is difficult to find in the bay, so this is a great spot if you’re considering something new and exciting. Their banitsa is a vegetarian hand-rolled phyllo dough filled with veggies, cheese, and herbs. Their vegan grain bowl has porcini farro, artichoke hearts, fire-roasted sweet peppers, mushrooms, and herbs.
- Cochinita: Many Mexican food trucks offer plant-based burritos, but we love Cochinita’s version because it includes a small amount of sweet plantain which pairs well with the beans, rice, and veggies. (Ask for it without cheese to keep it vegan). Don’t miss out on their vegetarian loaded elote tater tots.
- Kabob Trolley: Afghan-inspired dishes like kabobs and falafel. Their crispy, golden falafel is vegan and gluten-free. Enjoy it in a rice bowl, salad, or plate lunch. Don’t forget to ask for their zesty garlic sauce.
- Tlaxico’s Pizza offers two wood-fired vegetarian pizzas. The first is a classic margherita pizza with red sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil and olive oil. The second is a spicy veggie with hot peppers, oregano, spinach, mozzarella cheese, black olives, red onions, mushrooms, and red peppers.
Drinks + Dessert
- Flora Gelateria takes vegan gelato to the next level. Their cento coffee stracciatella gelato is made with French press coffee infused in cashew milk, studded with thin TCHO chocolate chips. Pair it with their vegan devoto heirloom apple-pecan gelato layered with gluten-free oat and pecan streusel.
- Alpaca Latte is a coffee caterer with two amazing vegan options. Their signature alpaca latte is made with vegan chocolate, house-made vanilla syrup, and cinnamon. Their matcha latte uses ceremonial grade matcha along and is served with oat, almond, or coconut milk.
