When part of our community is in crisis, it’s up to all of us to rise up, speak up and work to create change.
In light of the horrific hate crimes sweeping the Asia American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, we’ve rallied our network of creators and artists to raise funds that will benefit organizations working to stop anti-Asian rhetoric and incidents.
Throughout this week—from March 29-April 4th—Off the Grid will be donating 100% of all proceeds from our open food spots and app sales. All proceeds will go to benefit the Asian Pacific Fund, a Bay Area non-profit strengthening the AAPI community through philanthropy.
In addition to our efforts, we’ve partnered with 15 creators and artists who will be donating 10% of all sales throughout the week. Here’s who you can support this week to support the AAPI community.
Where to eat and drink this week to support the AAPI community.
1) Little Skillet
With SOMA based restaurant, Mestiza, currently closed as a result of COVID, they have partnered up with their sister restaurant Little Skillet, a Black and Asian-American owned restaurant serving up San Francisco soul food, to offer Metiza’s famous Filipino Fried Chicken Box to help bring awareness to stop Asian Hate. 10% of all proceeds from orders made via the Little Skillet website and takeout window will go to benefit Hate Is A Virus.
This box, available in small or large, includes fried chicken tossed with Little Skillet’s ToyoMansi (soy sauce and citrus) glaze, pandan waffles, and your choice of sides. For desserts, the box includes purple velvet ube cupcakes and a calamansi-ginger lemonade, as well as a limited edition Little Skillet bandana.
How to get it: The box is available for purchase through Little Skillet’s website or walk-up window at 360 Rich Street in San Francisco.
2) Akita Gourmet
Akita Gourmet, an Asian-owned a sushi truck and restaurant group, will be donating 10% of all food sales from its restaurant this week to the Asia Pacific Fund. Its most popular dishes include the crispy dragon roll, spicy mango roll and chicken teriyaki.

3) Marley’s Treats
A Filipino-owned bakery shop and food truck known for its ube cupcakes and hot coco, Marley’s Treats is donating 10% of its sales for the week from its brick and mortar shop.
How to get it: Order online or for pickup at https://www.marleystreats.com. You can also head to its store at 838 B St. Hayward, Ca.
4) Love Burn Chicken
Churreria SF and IVSF Catering—the holding companies for Love Burn Chicken and SSF Chickenbox—will be donating 10% of its sales this week. An Asian-American owned business, Love Burn is best known for its spicy fried chicken sandwich.

5) I Love CheeseSteak
I love CheeseSteak, a food truck that sticks close to its namesake with over-the-top delicious cheesesteak sandwiches, is donating 10% of all its food sales this week. You can track it on the Off the Grid Experience app or on the company’s social media pages.
How to get it: Get it in person at one of it’s pop-up locations this week, including SFO on Thursday April 1 and Alameda on Saturday April 3.
6) Wokitchen
A traditional Chinese food truck serving up handmade dim sum, Mu Shu pork tacos and a selection of wok-made dishes, Wokitchen is a proud Asian-owned business that will be donating 10% of its sales all week.

7) 43 & Co
A pastry company making classics done well, 43 & Co. is donating 10% of its sales all week on everything in store, including dessert tarts that literally melt in your mouth.
How to get it: Order online for takeout or pickup here. You can also find them in person at 1558 Gladding Ct, Milpitas, CA.
8) Curbside
Owned by Bonnie & Eric, two Asian Americans, Curbside specializes in chilled gourmet meals designed to save you time and keep you out of the kitchen. Their menu changes weekly, so there’s always something new to try, and next week 10% of all sales will go to support AAPI.

9) The Waffle Roost
Slinging chicken-and-waffles and a variety of other savory soul food dishes, Waffle Roost is donating 10% of its sales this week.
How to get it: Order ahead here. Or find their food truck this week at SFO on Friday, April 2.
10) Stookey’s
If you’d rather drink for a good cause, Nob Hill post-prohibition cocktail bar Stookey’s Club is offering up 10% of its sales this week.
How to get it: Cocktails are available to go, for pickup or enjoyed at Stookey’s outdoor dining at 895 Bush Street in San Francisco.
11) Pintoh Oakland
Oakland-based Thai street food sweetheart Pintoh will be donating 10% of its food proceeds this week to help raise awareness.

12) Anarchist Wine Co.
Anarchist Wine Co. will donate 50% of all online sales of wine and merchandise made through www.anarchistwineco.com to Hate Is A Virus, a nonprofit started in response to the rise in hate crimes against AAPI due to the pandemic to stop the spread of hate.
“We embrace the ideas, individuals, and events that move and shape the trajectory of human history toward a better world. Our winemaking philosophy emphasizes creativity, quality, accessibility and a willingness to challenge the status quo. We stand for compassion, we stand against hate.”

13) Little Green Cyclo
Little Green Cyclo, a Vietnamese-owned restaurant and food truck, is donating 100% of its online merchandise sales this week to support the AAPI cause.

14) Off the Grid Food Truck Markets
Off the Grid is donating 100% of its market and app proceeds to the Asia Pacific fund. Come out, eat good food and support a great cause.
How to get it: Find our market schedule here and visit a variety of food trucks in person at At Serramonte Center on Tuesday, March 30th, Alameda on Saturday, April 4th or any day at San Francisco Airport Terminal 1.

15) Nick Beymer
San Francisco photographer and beekeeper from Idaho Nick Beymer is donating 10% of sales from his print photography this week. Nick just got back from a month of working hives in the Central Valley, where he has been shooting commercial bee keeping for the better part of a decade. You can shop his beautiful, moving prints for sale here.
16) Kristine Moy
A San Francisco native and a third-generation Chinese American, Kristine Moy is an artist who grew up doing arts & crafts with her sister and parents. She started KrisKraft Designs to establish a platform to share her creative visions, as well as achieving a sense of community, togetherness, and love.
She’s donating 20% of sales for her AAPI Year of the Ox crafts to the Asia Pacific Fund. You can find and purchase them here.
17) Stevie B
A Bay Area artist who makes colorful pins, among other things, Stevie B will donate 15% of this week’s pin sales from StormCloud Press. He’s also donating 100% of the proceeds from one custom pet portrait that he’ll be advertising on his Instagram page.
All proceeds will benefit the Asian Mental Health Collective.
“As a Filipino American, mental health is not a common subject discussed growing up. And I feel that especially now, it is truly important to work through our personal traumas and the traumas of society so that we can become better versions of ourselves, and in doing so, better our community,” he told Off the Grid.
