Haven’t made it to Fort Mason Center yet this season? Here’s what you’ve been missing.

It’s “summer” in San Francisco, and the 2019 season of the city’s biggest Friday night party is well under way. From craft cocktails, to delicious eats, and guest DJs spinning tunes all night, if you haven’t been out to Fort Mason Center yet this season, all we have to say is…what are you waiting for?!

With so much to eat and discover this year, we want to make sure you get the most out of Friday nights at Fort Mason Center. Here’s a rundown of some cool stuff that’s been going on behind the scenes, plus a few of our juiciest insider tips.

Taste New Surprises Every Week

With our selection of 25+ trucks, stands and stalls, there’s no doubt  you’ll stumble upon a few surprises at Fort Mason Center every week. Family-owned Pye’s hand-held savory meat pies are a delicious mid-season addition to this year’s lineup, while the spicy chicken noodle bowl from Momo Noodle has become an instant fan-favorite. La Santa Torta has been a breakout success (they were even dubbed one of San Francisco’s 10 Best Tacos by TimeOut magazine). So whether you try something new or go for a reliable favorite, we guarantee you won’t be left hungry — there’s truly something for everyone (vegan guests included).

Also new this season are a variety of up-and-coming chefs from both Instrucktional (Off the Grid’s own 24-month mobile food incubator in partnership with Google) and BiteUnite (a co-working kitchen for food entrepreneurs located in the Mission), who have been featured in a rotating fashion, showcasing chefs at various stages in their culinary journeys. Off the Grid: Fort Mason Center is one of the few places that you can try these new concepts before they blow up and hit the mainstream.

Before you come, check out the weekly creator lineup so you’ll know exactly which corner of the lot to make a beeline for — or even better, download the official Off the Grid app: [Download for iOS | Download for Android].

Dress Code: Just Come Hungry

Whether you’re arriving straight from work in business attire (happy hour, anyone?) or grabbing a bite in your post-pilates class best, you’ll fit right in at Off the Grid: Fort Mason Center. In other words, simply come as you are (this is San Francisco after all!).

But as goes all good fashion advice for dealign with the erratic microclimates of the City by the Bay, bring a few layers so you’ll be prepared for any meteorological curveballs. Not to worry though — for the nights when the fog or cool temps (hey, Karl!) overpower the waterfront views at Fort Mason Center, we’ve got plenty of sheltered lounge spaces, fire pits, and heat lamps to gather around for warmth.

Bring Fido Along for the Fun

At Off the Grid markets, we welcome guests of all ages and backgrounds. But on the third Friday of every month, we really up the ante for our four-legged friends. Fido Friday has quickly become one of our most popular recurring events, and is always sure to be a great time for both dogs, dog owners and dog admirers alike. Arrive early to take advantage of our Yappy Hour specials starting at 5:30pm (10% off Rye on the Road drinks for all guests with a pup in tow!). Plus, we have doggie bowls, bag stations and complimentary treats all night long (and human food droppings, of course). The next Fido Friday takes place on July 19th — so make sure to bring your pup along for some for the fun.

Shake Things Up with Themed Events

From our first ever Taco Takeover back in April, to our raucous Pride Block Party last month, we’ve been letting ourselves get delightfully carried away with special events that pay tribute to the spirit and community of San Francisco. Next up is our 2nd annual Fog Appreciation Day on Friday, August 2 — a tongue-in-cheek celebration of San Francisco’s cirsp summer. We’ll have fog-themed food (think cloud-shaped earl grey macarons) and specialty Ketel One cocktails, the debut of Magnolia Brewing Co‘s ‘Cloud Cover’ double IPA, and a custom tote station from the American Craft Council featuring SF fog-inspired artwork from artist Jenny Lemons.

Keep an eye on Off the Grid’s Instagram feed for the latest updates about other upcoming special events happening during the latter half of this season!
